Students in the foster care system and children of active-duty military transferring to the state due to a permanent change of station are exempt from these requirements.

Attended a Georgia public school during the prior school year. The State Board of Education may waive this requirement at its discretion on a case-by-case basis, and there is an exception for children of active-duty military personnel stationed in the state.

Two previous semesters at a state public school. Requirement waived for students assigned to a low-performing school district and previous recipients of a tax credit scholarship or voucher.
