Monday, July 9, 2012 11:30 AM — 2:30 PM Closing Achievement Gaps Using a P-3 Approach (session #115) THIS SESSION IS NOW FULL. This session will address preschool through 3rd grade (P-3) as the crucial foundation for student achievement and school success. The session will provide not only a framework for understanding the comprehensive nature of P-3 reforms, but also specific ideas about the policies and practices needed to meaningfully impact young students’ learning opportunities. Participants will have the chance to examine their own early childhood and early elementary efforts and consider strategic ways to strengthen and expand alignment from preschool through 3rd grade. This session will provide theoretical, empirical, and practical perspectives on improving education for young learners. PARTICIPANTS

Monday, July 9, 2012 1:00 PM — 3:00 PM 2012 State Teachers of the Year (Invitation Only) (session #121) 2012 State Teachers of the Year will receive an overview of this year’s Forum activities and learn more about the roles they will play at the 2012 Forum. State Teachers of the Year will engage with high-level policymakers and ECS Commissioners to exchange practitioner and policymaker perspectives on high-profile education policies and learn the most effective ways to impact education policy in their own states.
